Mechanical Problems/Vehicle Issues and Fix-it Forum If you've got a problem you just can't figure out, a noise you can't diagnose, or a Check Engine Light that won't go away, ask about it here!

I've never heard of the RPMs fluctuating.

My buddy has an older civic with an intake headers exhaust. When he’s chillin at a stop light the RPMs go up to 2000 then back down to 850(idle) Just like back and forth, not really fast, just up for a second then back down for a second. What up with that?

the older hondas have a problem with the IAC valve. replace it and your problem will go away. I cant remember exactly what the problem is, but my old teacher explained it to me about a year ago. I think it has to do with something leaking. not too sure.
