car turns off when wheel is turned need gas to start
i have an 01 civic dx 5sp model. when the car is on and the wheel is turned to the maximum; right or left and held there while in idle, the car shuts off. is this normal? and what causes this to happen. when this happens my car will not start and i have to press the gas pedal for the car to start again. my second issue is on occassion, and NOT in the rain but normal driving, when i take my foot off the gas i get a vibration noise ONLY when my foot is off the gas and the rpms slow to about 27000 rpms. when i am on the gas i heard nothing but honda motor. i have a stock exhaust system. only time this was removed was when i put in a new motor last year. i have removed the heat sheild from the manifold. i have raised the hood. sounds like its comming from the tranny area. i have an injen cold air intake. its not that either. could it be the b pipe? the neuspeed cross bar? i was just recently under the car to replace the shift linkage, everything was fine. this vibration is out of the blue and all of a sudden 2 weeks later. any educated guess welcomed. if i cant find it i guess i will just have to have firestone throw it up on a lift. i do most of my own work and live by the hanyes repair manual. but these issuses have me stumped. thanks team 7th gen.
wow, they slow to 27000 rpm, that turbine jet engine you have in your civic must be mad inefficient. in all seriousness though, a vibration 'noise' could be anything. start pulling and prodding at stuff under your hood, or get someone to rev to 2700 ish rpms while you fiddle around under there. good luck.
i heard its not good to hold your wheel to the maximum right or left. something about burning out the power steering pump? thats why some cars whine and lights dim when you do it.
