passenger side axle stuck in hub

basically thats it. and there is a hideous grinding noise sounds like its coming from inside the tranny from where the axle is pushed in to the hub where the wheel studs are. the entire time i just thought it was bad brake pads but i bought new ones and changed em and the noise is still there. when my car is lifted on the jack stands i can move my rim very little like this / \ / \ if you know what i mean. the sound is so ugly. i got a video clip of it in case you guys would wanna hear it. whats the problem? thanks for any help in advanced.
