Exclamation Question concerning gears

Well im not exactly sure if this is the right place to post it, im sorry if it isnt just let me know and ill start the thread in the right place. Im not a mechanic so im not an expert on how things work mechanically beneath the skin. Lately i feel like my second gear doesnt always go in properly, which ends up grinding by accident when i shift quickly. It seems to stop for about half a second and then go in,not each time but once in a while when i shift fast. Ive grinded my second gear about..oh...lets say...7 times up to now and i was wondering if there is anything that can slow down the wear of the gears. Also how bad is it when you grind..i mean i know its really bad but what happens exactly, does anything chip or break or crack..? Any answer would be appreciated! Thanks!

You'll need to understand how a transmission & clutch work.

Hear you go! They talk about what happens in a "mis shift" too.

Transmission:

Clutch:

Also there is a product names "syncro mesh" you can buy at your local auto zone.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
