my car is driving me INSANE! HELP
Ok so for about a month or two now i've been hearing this slight buzzing noise coming from somewhere on my dash.
at first i thought it was coming from the top of the instrument cluster (the vinyl dash part) but I realized it is coming from left most air vent (to the left of the steering wheel)
the sound is actually pretty slight....but it is CONSTANT. it will not stop, ever....ever...EVER! and it is making me crazy. sure I can bump the system up and not hear it....but i don't like blowing my ear drums ALL the time....especially on the way to work or late at night. and plus when i have people in the car is pretty dumb to have to yell to communicate with someone 2 feet to the right or behind you...
to stop the buzzing all i have to do is hold the air vent...then i'll get some peace and quiet...but how conventional is that? driving stick with 1 hand on the wheel, 1 hand on the vent. haha. HOW DO I STOP THE BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZING?!?!?
its pretty hard to find EXACTLY where its coming from, since it only does it while driving...and well...im kinda busy driving while i'm driving...so i can't really focus on the air vent. i don't think anything is in there rattling...i think the vinyl dash and plastic air vent have like .5mm of space between them and are just vibrating against each other BUT I CAN'T STAND IT
anybody have any ideas how to get the most annoying buzzing noise ever out of my car??
cliffs notes:
The air vent on the left of steering wheel (between driver door and steering wheel)is making a buzzing noise and it wont stop. if it continues i will drive my car off of a cliff!

nope doesn't matter either way. its ALWAYS there...and you can even hear it over the music if you're listening to it at a moderate level.
its SO annoying.
im actually getting used to pointing the vent downwards...that way there is a little 1 inch lip on the bottom of thevent that i can rest 2 fingers on so it wont buzzz. i HATE it

why not take off apart the left vent see if that helps.
if not.
try putting some thing around the vent it self.
kinda like a sound deading sorta thing.

Ya, until you get it fixed just fold up a piece of paper or something to fill up the gap. atleast that away you wont have to lean across the car holding the whole time until you can get it to a dealership or something.
under warranty?

So thats what that could be, when I'm driving at higher speeds.
I been hitting the door, dash and "A" pillar to try to get it to stop!
ok. I'll just have to fix that ****.
I got middle vent, up and down movement tto, not enough friction to hold it still.
I so I'll just pull out the vents and use so small "O" rings for friction on each side of the vent.
Maybe that will help on the driver left vent too.

i'll try that punking...
but the thing is its not loose or anything...no extra up and down movement in the vent. AND..i don't even think there is any room to stick a piece of paper let alone anything else.
i guess i'm going to have to yank it out, huh?
