Major Stereo Prob (please help)

I have a 2001 Civic EX Coupe and my stereo is totally posessed. When I change radio stations or even change from CD to Radio or vice versa it makes a popping sound. I do not keep my stereo loud and sometimes the popping noise is very loud. Also there is a LOUD buzzing noise sometimes that happens even when I turn the volume all of the way down. My car is at the dealership rightr now but Honda says the popping is normal and that they cannot duplicate the buzzing. Does anyone else have any of these problems and what can I do to get them fixed. I think it is the head unit or a ground wire is loose somewhere or something. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Popping not normal. I'd seriously bit*h about that one, possibly take it to another Honda dealer if they don't fix.... I'd be willing to bet its the ground.

yeah, that sounds like a grounding problem. you can go get a ground loop isolater and that will prob. fix it, or just find a better grounding spot.

9/10 times the buzzing noise is a cell phone or pager that creates interferance. no big deal.
to stop the buzz don't put cell phones or pagers by the head unit or speakers.

the popping is real common in most cases its a defective harness. if you have a 2001 have them check the harness for the cd player.

2K2 Civic with Alpine hu (CDA-7863) will sometimes pickup my cell phone (Motorola i1000) when it's connecting to the network. This also happens, sometimes, at home with the computer speakers. But this interference is only audible when there's a pause in the music or sound, otherwise it's drowned out by the loud music.

Umm, OK you been installing professionally for 5 years huh? Where at Wal-Mart? The stereo will pick up interference from cell phones. And no, yours will not pick up interfence because you are using a hands free kit. You signal is transmitting and receiving from a remotely mounted antenna. I would suggest for future posts being a little less critical, just because you haven't personally experienced a problem does not mean that a problem does not exist. And in regards to the orignal question, replacing the ground should fix it, but I would raise fuss with the dealer a lot first, talk to the store manager/owner if necessary. I wouldn't go messing around with wires because if it does not fix it, they will blame it on that.

Connecting to the internet it couldpossibly, but at walmart ? come on man that the hell im just tellin you the fact that if you 7863 is picking up interfeence then you need to fix that ... it Shouldnt. i have never heard of that .. yes i agree that i havent personally excpereinced that .. but Yes i asked around and every one laughed there *** off . i was not being critical .. if you want ciritcal ill give ya ciritical .. but i was tellin ya a handsfree kit would provide more of a interference just cause your antenna and main brain would cause more ... but i wasnt ... i was just tellin ya so chill ok ? there is no need for instults.. i didnt call anyone a Fool or moron for that .. now did i ?

ok i have had a chance to calm down and think rationally .. i apologize for that . thought my dog had just died on me ... kinda made me flip ...
and as for your 7863 i commend you on your radio choice. i used to have it and i have a faceplate for it if you ever need it . some cell phones could cause interferance like next tel. just becuase the programming and freq it runs on . but its highly unlikely. normal cell phones ahhh no . i have due to my worthless temper gone thorugh more cell phones and things of that nautre . OF course I am open to suggestion and to reasonable evidence and lack of better words techobabble ... give me reasonable cause. as as for the walmart comment man F$%^ you ok . no offense . there was no reason to insult me . i have been in thousandsof cars, different radios with different issues, different fixes, and yes i could be wrong , the old car phone kits if put in wrong Yes could add noise . you all know the one im talkin about the 3 watter , that huge nasty thing ...

Yeah I have the same thing happen in my car if the phone is getting a call I will hear the buzz then the phone will ring. Then when you talk on the phone the stereo keeps on buzzing, have to turn the stereo off which is fine with me I shouldn't be driving, have the radio on and talking on the phone anyway But yeah this problem happens and even a buddy of mine who had the same thing happening in his vehicle, and it wasn't a honda.

Crankin Civic, YES A CELL PHONE CAUSES INTERFERENCE!!! hell, a cell phone causes interference on a f*ckin computer screen. when my cell phone gets a call, or i am on it, i get a clicking and a buzzing from it, but you can only hear it when the volume is all the way down, cause if the volume is up, it covers up the sound. I have a Nokia 5190

First, I believe that you started the insulting. You said "Check this out, I have been installing professionally for 5 years and that a load of horse crappie". If indeed you have been installing "Professionally" for 5 years then I would imagine that you would have at least once come across a cell phone causing interference. Why do you think that they put the FCC warning on them? This device may cause harmful interference.. you think they do that just because? They do that because many devices will cause interference. Just because you don't have a particular problem DOES NOT mean that it doesn't exist. You have already stated why your phone doesn't cause interference.. You have a hands free kit. althouh the phone may be next to the radio this signal goes through an external antenna (unless you don't have one of the better kits with no antenna) I have a Nokia 3360 through Cingular and my phone cause interference on my factory HU. Although I don't recall any since I have put in my Pioneer LCD screen. Again why I think you are not a "Professional" you stated that it will depend on the phone and frequency. When have you ever seen a cell phone operate anywhere near 87Mhz-107Mhz? And if I recall correctly (trust me I am) Cell phones are going higher in frequency and lower in power. I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest with you, but I think you were a little harsh to begin with. What ever happened to "I've been installing for a few years and I haven't seen that problem yet" instead of telling him he is full or "horse crappie" (nice choice of words)
