A/C Lag

Hey I have a 2002 civic and everytime I turn on the A/C and start to drive, taking off from 1st the car creeps and then kicks in, by this time its time to switch to 2nd, by then it doesn't feel too bad. Is this normal or do I need to check something out?

its called having a slow engine. it needs 10-20whp to drive the ac compressor. now if you press the gas hard, the ecu will turn off the ac until you ease off.

2-5 whp max. if you took off the belt, you prolly wouldnt even feel a difference in power.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'm going to deal with it until I do my RSX swap.

20hp is a reach, a normally functioning A/C compressor shouldn't pull more than 5 to 10 hp, it just depends on how well your system is working.
