clunking noise from shifter assembly

clunking noise from shifter assembly
every so often i get this clunking noise when going into 2nd or 4th. not exactly harsh engagement, but there is some resistance. i kno that im not grinding my gears, but thats about it. im wondering if it could be due to old transmission fluid. does anyone have a similar problem?
