Thumbs down Got a Problem

I read the threads sayin if ur check engine light is on and all that but it doesnt answer 1 of my questions. okay, so my cars buckin, laggin whatever you want to say. basically boggin out and stops goin when i have my foot on the gas, even stalled once. kinda annoying, but today i was drivin, got off I-5 and it did it major (and it only really does it when the A/c is blasting) and the check engine light came on and blinked 3 times. 3 exactly. now isnt there somewhere that i can find out what it means for each certain amount of blinks? like the maintenance required 1 like how it blinks 10x after 9000 miles of not changin your oil or clearing the code. well what does 3 blinks on the check engine light mean? i was about to take it in to the shop today, but theyre booked til next week sometime they said, so any help would be great.
thanks,
Brian

go to auto zone and tell them you have a "check engine light"

They will read it for you .

We need to know what code you are throwing to diagnose anything.

come back with the code #

Example: P105 etc...

when was the last time you changed your spark plugs... on my older infinity g20 if you don't change the spark plug, and the engine starts misfiring the car shuts off on its own, or it'll run fine then all of a sudden i'll lose power... or it'll run but it'll run rough.. i don't know what else it could be...

just my two cents!!

okay i went to autozone today, scanned it, nothing wrong, checked the battery and alternator, nothing. dude. this sucks *****. ive been told on the newer cars the coilpacks shutoff the computer for a few minutes after they get too hot. is this true? cause if so it could just be its to hot. i mean it has been like 112 degrees out here. and if thats it doesz it mean the coilpack is going out and i need a new one, or this just happens in the heat? never happened in my eclipse like that. i never changed the spark plugs coil pack wiring, nothing. the cars only got 84k miles on it and i got it from my stepbrother. so far its a lemon. my eclipse shitted on it in everyway. tranny went out right after i got it. this. and i cant think of anything else right now but its been non-stop with this car. ****, and my mom wants me to sell the eclipse. it sounds like its bogging out too at like 5k rpms like gets loud and sounds like a cylinder might be misfiring. i dont know guys. any help is best.

Never heard of a coil pack "shutting off" in hot temp NEVER

**** im in Arizona & im sure we are a lot hotter then cali...

& its never happened to me EVER!

Change you spark plugs, change you oil, coolant, get a valve adjustment, etc!

Do some basic maintenance on your car it will love you!

Your car has a lot of mile on it with little to no maintenance done.

See if any of you symptoms change.

Report back

Good luck!

LOL, the best way to get over a hangover in the morning is to crack another brew

By the way, yesterday I installed ngk Iridium. Seems to work fine. Check this out, before I installed my new plugs my motor was clacking for quite some time. I thought it was a major problem. Today I drove my car and funny thing is it went away. I guess the plugs were too worn and caused a delay of some sort with the timming.

NGK iridium!!! NICE!!!

the clicking you talking about is your valves.

you need a valve adjustment BAD!!!

its only like $50-70 to get it done!

I would recomend you get it done with you new plugs!

Bet your car will run like new after that!

PS: I got my valves adjusted at 30,000 & will do it again at 100,000

Im at 62,000 now. If you care...

I'm at 99,000 kms and never hade a valve adjustment done on it, so I guess it's time to bring it in. $50-$70 bucks at the dealer?

hey guys! still no problem found here, going to get that valve adjustment done though, i mean why not right? 60$ over here in sacramento california. not bad at all. then im gettin those densu (iridium) wires for 60$ also. then im gonna change the spark plugs also along with the fuel filter, it never hurts to put new parts in it right. so im hopin itll be alot better. shop guy said the car will make it til next tuesday for the valve adjustment so sounds like im good to go. im just gonna do a major tune-up to this car friday and then next week it goes in for the valve adjustment. Wooo! im gonna have to post results also.

hey uhm, i just went to autozone.com to see how much the fuel filters are and it says, "not serviceable, FILTER IS PART OF IN TANK FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY." so uhm, is this gonna be extremelly hard to change compared to my 96 eclipse? cause the eclipse only took about 10-15 minutes.... uhm, how do i even change the fuel filter then? the way it sounds to me is that its inside the tank and id have to remove the whole tank, just to replace the filter. maybe im trippin, i dunno though, any ideas on that one?

Instead of jus "throwing" money at the problem,

You need to "diagnose" it first!

Just changing out parts that you think are not good,

But turn out to be perfectly fine ISNT going to fix your problem.

Since you can’t diagnose it & neither can I over the internet.

Set an appointment for the dealership have a professional look at & SOON!

Sound like the car can’t take much more.

So get to a real mechanic or your dealer soon

no prob.

try to go to a Import Mechanic.

The dealers will ALWAYS be busy!

I have a mechanic I trust with my cars life,

maybe you should try and get a little one on one with an import specialist.

instead of getting "rushed" around at the dealer.

PS if you cant tell I HATE THE DEALERS!!!

yeah, i just was at my lil import shop on my lunch break talkin to him about it. ive brought my eclipse in there and now the civic next tuesday. i just changed to the denso plugs, but is there any aftermarket wires i can buy also, he was sayin they dont make em cause there only like an inch long wire connected to its own lil coilpack. i wasnt plannin on goin to the dealer unless i absolutely HAD to either. i got an apointment tuesday but im gonna call him back in a little bit after i check out the spark plugs n see what happens cause i just installed them but i havent drivin it yet, i will be in about a half hour though so ill post on that one.
