well just like you i am have the same problem, but my car is modified. it started last week but then i found out that it was casue my fan was not working now yesterday my boyfriend cut out the thermostat they said it would run the same but today it was doing the same thing it started to ver heat. the wierd thing is, is if you turn the ac it goes down but then it will go up but basically if i play with the ac off i can actually make it somewhere i dont know what to do and this is my only trasportation, i cant ride a bus cause i work in ,mia 45 min from my house any help as well?????

check the water pump ... cause that's what happen to mine ... i thought my head gasket.. but check the water pump .. it might be spinning slow ... ..

well last night my hubby replaced the thermostat and on the way to work to day it was ok till i parked and then it started to over heat i cant take it no more! i will check the water pump thank god my hubby owns his own performance shop, the only problem is to get him, to do it for me! so thats why am here trying to figure it on my own

Here we go again. After they found the air pocket in my cooling system and let it out, car was fine. Few weeks later, back to square one (temp gauge is jumping around and car has heat half the time). Took my car into Valley Honda in Naperville, IL where I got the car originally while I was in town for New Years. They had the car from 7 am to 8:50 pm. Charged me $170 to replace my thermostat and flush out my coolant and added some new stuff. On my way back to Louisville, KY my malfunction indicator was illuminated and the car had barely no heat. I just emailed Valley Honda asking for my money back because they didn nothing for me and now I have to take it to some flipping idiot up here that doesn't know the difference between a sneeze and a wet fart. Can someone please help me? Does anyone on this forum work for Honda and possibly know exactly what this could be?! Since when do warranties have a deductable?!

Take out the sensor out right where your upper radiator hose connects to the engine and pour antifreeze directly in the hole. The pocket of air will remain there ususally and keep the therm. from opening

I could do that head gasket in a few hours I bet. Stupid port and polish gone wrong made me repeat the whole process.

Update...wow about 4k worth of work is going to be done to my car.Head gasket.Milled head,struts,timing belt (had done at 70k but they are going to do it again)oil change,new radiator,thermostat,tensioner,fan switch,and some more i just cant think of...rufus im on azht too and i still want the lip kit man...

I have an 03 civic with this same overheating issue. Ive replaced my thermostat with a direct OEM replacement part, didnt fix anything. I have a replacement temp sensor, but I dont think thats the problem at all.

If I stand there for like 5 minutes and let the motor keep cycling the coolant and keep filling it some more, I can finally get my car to produce heat inside during idle. And it will stay like this for a few days, maybe even a week I guess. Then it will start doing the over heating cycle. I drive my car while its overheating all the time, and it always returns to normal operating temperatures. And always in a very cyclical fashion, so it obviously has to do with the actual cooling cycle.

Okay, so interesting occurance one day... It was super cold outside, but really bright early in the morning. I was meeting my friend at his apartment to have him follow me to the paint shop (a-whole-nother story). I was parked just sitting there waiting on him to come out, and I noticed some white smoke (you know like when you breath outside) coming across my hood. It was kinda windy out so I wondered if it was just my exhaust. I got out of the car and it smelled alittle bit like coolant. I opened the hood, saw nothing, so I disregarded it. I drove my friend to his car in a different parking lot, and when he got out, he had a weird look on his face walking to his car and stopped. I immediately put it in park, opened the hood. What we saw when we lifted the hood was interesting. The sunlight hit this just right. There were two very tiny plumes of coolant smoke coming from the radiator about near the center, as if there were like pin size holes in it.

My car has been in the paint shop since monday, so I havent had a chance to inspect my radiator, but I just figured I would introduce this idea. Maybe there is a manufacturing mistake on our radiators that has cracked from repeated heat cycles. I may even yank it, and try my own pressure test in a container of water and see if I have air bubbles after I seal off the caps. This could explain why we are experiencing it again and again after we top off our systems. It works fine for a bit, eventually loses too much coolant from the leak, gets air in the radiator, and then cycles hot air through our engine, then it overheats, and repeats.

Hey milk+, have you fixed your problem yet? I'm having the same "no heat at idle" issue. Changed the thermostat and rad cap but didn't fix the problem. Did an oil change and didn't find any traces or coolan in it so I'm hoping it's not the head gasket.

milk+ has a headgasket leak since the problem comes back after he did the coolant fill and bleed.

i have the same problem with my car as well. im boosted and the car was running fine since forever until the other day. i realized my temp gauge was all the way at the H. during that time i pulled over and let my car cool down, when i would rev the engine the temp would go up slightly. i topped off the coolant and it seems ok now but i also have the no heat at idle problem. i hope i dont have a blown hg. . how do i release air bubbles in the cooling system?

to release bubble, take off radiator cap with car cold and turned off. then start car, warm to operating temp while rev to 3k, then add coolant to the rad until its full, turn on heater full blast and watch the bubbles come out. once they stop, put cap back on. note, bubbles wont stop coming if HG is blown. check plugs to see if theres white powder on them.

Aight, I just got done replacing my HEAD GASKET which the ****** dealer said was the problem...me n my bro in law did it...pain in tha *** to get too, but well worth DIY rather than spending $1500 at Honda. Anyways, I took off the head and low and behold the ****** stock head gasket was still in pristine condition which would lead me to believe that somethin else is wrong....I just flushed my radiator and put new coolant in, I just changed my oil, and I let it idle for 10mins and took it out for a spin. Looks and sounds good. I have to drive it longer to see if it overheats again, but the good thing is there are no leaks like before....yet! I'll let u guys know....this topic is such a pain in tha ***!!
