I' ve been riding in my friends 02 rsx and my friends si and when their vtec kicks in its really loud... I cant hear it in mine at all. Is that normal? I mean is it cuz its a sohc and not a dohc or did something get disconnected?

Rep Power: 0 Yup... better get used to it! It's just a Civic!
DOHCs are loud... simple as that cuz they are DOHCs... hehe (loudest Honda engine goes to the Integra GS-R.)
If it helps, get a REALLY loud exhaust for your car, and you won't even hear the engine anymore... just the exhaust.

I can barely, and I do mean Barely, feel VTEC engagement on my 02 EX coupe. It's almost as if it isn't even happening. I felt it a bit more prior to switching over to a synthetic oil. Wonder if that had any effect? It shouldn't.

How is the GSR loudest? It only revs to 8k with fuel cutoff of 8100...the Type R's (teg and Civic) rev to 8400...I dont even know what there fuel cutoff is!

Rep Power: 0 Since I installed my exhaust and cai there has been the expected loss of low end grunt. The once barely detectable change is now pretty evident in my opinion. Especially, if you are moderately accelerating. I'll be going along and at about 4k it just comes alive.

Rep Power: 0 THE REASON YOU HEAR VTEC IN THOSE CARS IS BECAUSE THE HAVE VTEC ON THE EXHAUST CAM AND WE DONT EVEN HAVE AN EXHAUST CAM. THATS WHY YOU HEAR VTEC KICK IN OUT OF THE EXHAUST.

I know this is late... but you know me.
The highest I've heard someone rev the ITR (from an ITR webpage) was that they redlined up to 8,600 RPMS!!!
And again (from what I heard... too much of this goes on in the forums... :nono the GS-R's engine has the loudest (out of the Integra's). But then they have the same engine... Type R has better limited slip differential, p&p, etc. Who knows. I can find out a lil' while from now since my bro has a GS-R and I'm getting a... eheh...
