Stiff auto shifter...

Hi,
I recently bought a civic 3dr '92. It's running perfectly well, except for the shifter. For some reason, it's kinda hard to select gears, to the point that I sometimes skip gears as a result of applying too much force. One thing I know is that it shouldn't be THIS hard to move the shifter. I don't want to take it in just for that. Is there anything I can do myself to at least improve the stiffness? What are the possible causes?

he's talking about the chassis code. you drive an EG civic. EG is your chassis code. 7th gen civics like a 2001-2005 sedan has the chassis code ES. What is he suggesting you do is find the correct forum to ask the question, your asking a question on a web forum devoted to 2001-2005 civics and not 1993 civics.
