Shifting from 1st to 2nd requiring more blending??

I'm finding that I have to blend when shifting from 1st to 2nd in my 2k2 lx coupe whereas when I first got the car, it just seemed to engage right away... I dunno, maybe it's just that my driving style is changing -- but I could of sworn that it felt a lot smoother when it was new. I only have about 1000 miles on the car -- but half of those were teachin my wife how to drive 5 spd -- i.e. lot of jack rabbits, stalls, and a few short clutch burns (4-5 seconds) .... do you think that the clutch/gearbox could be damaged in anyway??

Decamo has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I taught my friend how to drive 5speed on my car. He stalled like 20 times and was really rough on my shifter. Afterwards no matter how hard i tried to shift smoothly I couldn't. The one two shift was rough and sometimes the shifter didn't want to go in gear.
Its been a few days now and it seems to be getting smoother. I have no idea what is going on but I am positive it is the car and not my driving style that is changing.

Thats the last time I let someone else drive my car.

With the exception of the repair guys, and my Dad once or twice, I have never let anyone else drive my car. I've noticed you have to shift from 1st to 2nd slower than the rest of the gears. If you don't, and let me know if this happens to anyone else, I get a grinding feeling/noise. It doesn't happen, however when I really get on it off the line and shift quick. First to Second is slick as snaut on sleeve ! Certainly much improved after the 10,000 km point when i had manny tranny fluid replaced with Red Line Oil synthetic transmission fluid for manual gearboxes . First to second to third is very snickity snick . Also i think the Momo shift **** i put on has played some role in the actual shift improvement , the postiion is lower and more forward . my test for perfect is being able to row the gears with one finger applying pressure/motion to the stick .

Ahhhhhhhhhhh....I have wondered this myself. 1st-2nd usually feels kinda of notchy in mine like the clutch isn't fully disengaged or something, every other gear change is very satisfyinling smooth.

Hate to say it... but I'm feeling the same with 1st and 2nd. It feels grindy... doesn't feel clean at all. I have about 7600miles but my gears have been kinda grinding lately from me switching shoes from Nikes to Lugs. I usually wear the bigger lugs, but when I'm wearing Nikes I find out the hard way that I need to move the seat up a notch so I can press the clutch down enough to switch gears... No more Nikes! At any rate, perhaps a change in transmission fluids could help?

not only does mine sometimes fell grindy but it has even poped fully out of gear on me, lately this has happed often. id be in second taking a left at a stop light and all of a sudden the rpms would fly up cause the shifter poped out. i think it time for me to bring it in, tell me if any one else has had this serious of a situation.

*whew* i thought it was only my car that was rough going from first to second... what i do to minimize that is add about a few hundred rpms to the engine

I've put 36,000 on mine and it hops out of gear when i change from first to second in a right turn.
I took it in two weeks ago they said they found out whats wrong and had to order parts.

with my '02 LX (5K miles) after the first 1,000 miles it got really hard to up- or down-shift into 2nd, there was a service bulletin for this on the 01s, maybe its still a problem? it seems to be worse it cold weather, by the way.
