Anyone know how to remove the silver surround around the shifter?

Anyone know how to remove the silver surround around the shifter?

I really need to pull the silver surround piece and the shifter gear indicator. Anyone know to remove those pieces from around the shifter?

look at the DIY on how to remove the head unit, your have to remove the piece with the cig lighter and all that, than the black ring around the shifter than you unsnap the piece you want to get off, all you have to do is unsnap a few pieces...takes like 2 seconds

I put my own head unit in and have had it out a million times. I don't see anything there that would allow me to remove just the pieces immediately around the shifter though.
