pully Bearing????
ok so I replaced my alternator and it works great.
however there is a really loud scretch (sp?) coming from that area it does not sound like a belt,
the power steering pump belt's tension is deffinitly right but the alternator one might be a little lose.
however I don't think this will cause that noise which is why I believe it to be a bearing,
can I fix this myself???? if I go to honda they will probably charge me for 3 hours of labor when I know I can take my alternator out again in under 5 minutes.
anyone know how much honda would charge to fix this, or how I can fix this on my own, if it is either belt or the bearing????
Thanks.
Mods-I think this is the right forum, but sorry if it belongs in tech chat. it's sort of 50/50

if you know the belt is loose, tighten it and recheck for the noise. A loose belt will make that sound. I have seen drive belts make noise and were just a bit loose. I dont think a bearing is causing you the problem.
Now even if it was a bearing failure in the alternator, the dealer isnt going to replace it, they will just replace the whole alternator. it is more cost effective then to pull it apart and replace a bearing. it can be done at home for a cheap cost.
But adjust the belt and check it again.

Like my dad used to say, Just bend over and take it like a man, son
