EACV Questions
EACV Questions
Guys
My car has an idling problem (rpm drops without warning to ~500rpm during idle, happens irregularly). I got to know from someone experienced that it could be due to EACV not adjusted well. Does anyone know if we have EACV in our Civic? If we do, where is it and how do we adjust it / reset it?
Many thanks in advance.

check your pm. there is only the idle air control valve. the tps can cause idle to fluctuate if it somehow got bumped or out of adjustment. but idle is controled by the iac since the throttle body valve is closed. older cars also had a fast idle thermo valve.
Your car have an IACV (idle air control valve) that is controlled by the ECU (computer). Your MIL (malfunction indicator light; check engine) is on? If it is, you need to scan it for codes.
The IACV is controlled by the ECU so it don't need any adjustment. Even the throttle comes adjusted from the factory and don't need or shouldn't be adjusted in any manner.
When idling it revs up and down constantly, or until it warms up? It is commonly caused by the MAP sensor, but can be the IACV itself or the TPS. Also check for loosing wires. Scan for codes, its the best way...

well it is held on by rivets so you would have to drill those out and then replace with some screws. once you figure out how to put it back properly, i believe it must be aligned based on voltage requirements. I have no idea but i don't think its something you can do yourself.
