honda civic 2000 ex brake lights aren't working. help

My honda civic 2000 ex brake lights aren't working. The car was previously repaired from a rear end collison and I just recently found out that it is not working. What may be the cause because all the bulb are replaced and fuse checked? How much would it cost to service this problem? Is the cause the brake switch above the foot pedal or faulty wiring? All the other lights work.

well since you said the fuse is good, I would start by seeing if you had power to the rear brake lights. Now if you had a rear end collision, I would first check the ground wire for the brake lights. More then likey it isnt connected or is loose. if that is fine, check for power at the lights. If you dont have any power to the rear lights, check the brake switch as it controls the brake lights.

So far it isn't the brake switch underneath the pedal that is causing it to no work. The body shop that did the work tried to replace it today. Since it is the holiday season the shop said they will call a electrian and diagnost the problem and if it is related to the accident, they will fix it for free. I certain it might have been the body work done where the painted the ground and it isn't contacting medal. But that is my guess. I will drop the car off on wednesday.

If tailights o.k. most likely ground is fine. Could still be related to recent body work though.
