Electric clicking from ignition

So I go to start my car this morning, and this clicking noise starts right before the starter kicks. This car is 9 months old, so I'm really hoping that its nothing serious. Anyone else thinks it sounds like the ignition having issues?

There are several relays that click when you turn the key. The fuel pump relay will click on, and back off when the pump is up to pressure. The ignition relay will also click. You may not have paid attention before. Well, it may be something else, but these are the normal clicks. Maybe you can describe it better? But pay attention to the normal relay clicks when you turn the key to ON and see if that's what you heard.

to me it sounds like a dead battery. the usually clue is when you try and start the car and it just has a rapid clicking.

But did the car start? If it did, then it was probably as tinman described.

its not like the ignition normally does, and yes the car does start. It happens right before the starter kicks in, and it sounds like a mix between an electric buzz and clicking. Its definitely not coming from the engine bay, its coming from under the steering column. The funny this is that it only happens every once in a while, and it didn't do it at all today.

did your gauges flash? i think on the newer civics, 03+ the gauges flash too when you hear the clicks to warn you of a battery problem.

I had the same electric clicking a few months ago, it disappeared after 2 weeks. Strange.

Stick or Auto? If it's an auto, that's probably the key-lock. Keeps you from removing the key unless the transmission is in neutral or park.
