Something wrong with the beater!
Ok, well today I went to start my Chevy Blazer and it wouldn't start. Well I jumped it and took off down the street and when I applied the breaks and was slowing down it just turned off and the lights and everything dimmed and finally went out, and the power steering went with it and the brakes were unreal to push down. Well i pull over and get my mom to come down and try to jump it again, and it wouldn't start. So i try and try and nothing, it acted like it wanted to turn over but it wouldn't. So then i just sit for 15 minutes and wait. Then go to turn it over and BOOM, fires right up. So i check the cables on the battery and they were really really loose. So i tighten them up and drive the Blazer around for awhile. When i get home i turn it off and try to start it back up. NOTHING! OMG this is driving me insane! I just had the alternator changed last year. What could be wrong? The battery?

check the battery, battery cables and terminals, sounds like your got some unwanted resistance somewhere. What year is it? Could be battery, alternator, starter or just some crap built up in the wires somewhere. And if it's an electrical problem I suggest not jump starting it w/ your civic cause that's just gonna send your civic some problems. If you got some crap built up somewhere and your starter is trying to suck more amps from your battery to start that engine up and you jump start it your sending extra amps to your civic that "COULD" damage your computers. Most likely it won't happen but you never know now a days

It happened to my friends car. A cable that connected to the battery was bad. Then all of a sudden something happened and the cable came loose and somehow melted the battery terminal, the cable, all plastic surrounding and caught the engine on fire. I was amazed at this... so please check the cable for rust or frays in the line.

There isn't rust on any of the cables. The alternator was replaces last year. Whenever it was dead and I went to jump it, it acted like it wanted to start up, but wouldn't turn over. Then after waiting about 10-15 with jumper cables on it fired up. And no I'm not jumping it with the Civic, the Civic won't come out of the garage until March for any circumstances. I'm going to jump it again and take it to AutoZone so they can test it.
Sorry, just was never a fan of american cars, but anyways, if you have the tools, you could check if the battery is good and if the alternator is generating a good amount of current required. But I got a feeling it could be both, because once the engine is on, it shouldnt use the battery much and the alternator takes over and since you got your car running and it died down the street.

Yea the guy said that if the battery doesn't get a good connection or is bad it won't charge the alternator up. So i'm going to go jump it now and see whats up.

Went and tested it at Advanced Auto and sure enough it is the battery, he tested the alternator and it came back just fine. When he went to test the battery it ran the test and said "Charge and Retest" Meaning it was so bad it couldn't run the test on it. I went to Honda and my brother gave me a new battery from the Chevy side. So now its good to go for the winter.
