Would a B20 fit our cars?
Would a B20 fit our cars?
well i have an 01 4dr LX AT, and i want to do a swap, but NO! not k20, i dont have that kinda cash on me, so i was thinking like a b20, which is like a 1500 swap, compared to a 4-6k k20 swap, so would a B20 fit? or no?
IBTM
I don't think it would be worth it.
1) To my knowledge no one makes mounts for a b20 (I know someone will say the line "If you have enough money you can make anything work" but by your post money is an issue.)
2) The $1500 your talking about i'm guessing is just for the motor but because this isn't a "common" swap there's going to be alot of custom parts needed so it's probablly going to end up costing more than you expect.
3) I would look into maybe doing a k24 swap. I don't know if Hasport came out with mounts for the k24 but I know it has been done (ie hondaluver) and it's cheaper than a k20.
4) Depending on what your goal is for the car you could also consider FI.

an 01 it is a legal swap. and you can get a complete engine tranny and wirings setup for $1500. you would have to make custom mounts, and probably get custom cut axels. if yo udo it yourself with the price of the machine shop it can be done for about $2500 i say with all the odds and ends stuff you need.

there is a guy that put a B18 in their 7thgen. I believe the total cost was a little over $5k and he did most of the work himself, not the machine work, just the welding and easy fab stuff and dropping the engine in. So no, it is not cheaper than K series. I know of people who have K20's for about $3,500
well as for mounts, u can find them can get them custom, and k24, (hondaluver) told me he spent about 12k on everything he has, so i dont know about that one, now im thinking an h22, any1 know the Average price of an h22 swap??? or the leasts price or idea of it???
hondaluver has alot more than just a regular swaped k24. Off the top of my head id guess an h22 motor and tranny would go for $2000-$3000 which you could probably get a k20a3 for around the same. You seem pretty intent on not swaping a k-series so if that's really what you want i'd go b20 just because it's probably the cheapest. What excatly do you want out of the car? Knowing what your goal is would make picking a motor much easier. Have you acctually started pricing everything out?

An H22? For real man, you are going to run into the same problems as a Bseries motor and more because you are going to have to remove part of the firewall. Hondluver has a K24 bottom end with a K20A2 head, you start mixing and matching crap like that, it gets costly. Really though, a base model RSX motor is only like $2k, $1.5 to install and you have your self a motor that is VERY boost freindly compared to the D17.
But really a Bseries will cost you at LEAST the same as a Kseries and you end up with less motor. If it was cheaper, don't you think someone out of the 30,000+ members here would have done it by now?
If you want cheap speed, with a Honda, by an EG with a B16 already in it, or just by a GS-R because you already have a motor and a tight (structurally tight) body that is good for cornering. Or if all you want is speed, by a mid 90's Z28 and be done with it, they go far faster with far less money.

Oh yeah, you have an auto too, that is going to cost you an extra $500-1,000 to convert to a manual to fit any of these engines. The base model RSX engine is aviable with a 5 speed auto.
an rsx engine is 1.5k installed??? is it really if thats the case i'll just go with the k20, well this is basicaly what a want, i want not the fastest car on the block, but than again, something decent, so i was thinking just boosting my d17 auto, or doing a swap, but not the k20 since i've heard its like 4-6k, but how much would a basic k20 swap would be, i think its a k20a or a3, i'm not sure, but i mean the basice k20, if it goes for like 1.5k installed than i'm all down for it, and the h22?, today i met a guy at my work, he has an 91' integra, i got to know him a bit more, and he has an h22 swap in it, and hes selling his car for 4k, and he told me hes tooken evo's and sti's on the freeway, so h22 seems pretty cool//. as for what i want to have, WHAT DO U GUYS RECOMEND????

Sorry, I must has miss typed what I ment, was, you can pick up a K20A1 (I think it is a1, maybe a3) for about 2 grand and have it put in for about 1.5k, so 3.5k installed. I forget, but someone on here was doing K20 swaps for 3.5k. But getting the costom mounts and all that is going to be far more to install any B or H motor. An H22 in a teg would be quick, but don't expect to take either of the car you mentioned from a dig.
I, personally, would not do much to your car, being an auto and all. The teg w/ the H22 would be cool, but my experiance is that cars like that big you nothing but headaches, but that's just me. IF you want a quicker car, get a quicker car, look for an older GS-R or DOHC lude or something. just my .02
I guy I know swapped a B20 into his 2000 Si along with an Integra Type R or GSR tranny (apparently). Not sure about the tranny but I know the engine was a success, worked great. He even had the bottle on it for a while before he crashed it.

The 2000 Si already has Bseries in it. That is a fairly straight forward swap, I mean you don't even have to change the motor mounts.
