Engine Problems

I have searched through the forums allready and have not found anything with this issue.
The issue.
While driving,(doing doughnuts in a large parking lot and other trics) my friends cars engin started glowing bright red. Not the engin itself but but the part infront and a little below it. Also, in order to even drive, we had to floor it. On the way home after seeing this problem, we checked again and saw that it was glowing again. We know nothing of what could be wrong with it but before we drive it tomarow to a shop, what do you guys think.

Please dont give me crap about us deserving it or whatever. Just let us get the problem fixed so we know what not to do in the furture.
Much appriciated.

overheated engine....in turn caused exhaust gases to increase heat and pressure, causing undue stress on gaskets and manifold....probably got cracks galore in the mani and gasket...check the coolant and oil (pray no mixing)

you probably already got the car fixed but almost sounds like a plugged up catlytic converter, if you had to floor it to get the car to move
