Rep Power: 428 check on the exhaust to see if a bag has gotten attached to it. I used to see it alot. they would get caught on the exhaust pipe, melt and cause the burning smell.

I ran over a shopping bag once and it melted all over the exhaust pipe. Smelled it through the vents.
Drive the car on the highway to really warm up the exhaust and the bag will bubble on the exhaust pipe. Park it and grab a broom with hard bristles and clean it off the exhaust pipe. I did this and got most of the melted plastic off. Once the exhaust cools the melted bag turns very hard.
Do this a few times and eventually the plastic is all gone.
