will ex trans on lx work?

I was just wondering if the civic ex transmission would work with my lx motor. I'm having the feeling that it doesn't maybethe gear ratio differ from each other and maybe vtech stuff, I'm not sure. I cant seem to find an lx tranny anywhere for a decent price.(ebay, craigs list, honda tech,7thgencivic, everywhere). I'm a newbie so be gentle if i got my facts wrong about the gear ratio. can anyone refer me to where i could buy a stock trans in norther ca. (sacramento) looking to pay from 200-350

you said that the trans will work fine but just a slight difference in ratio....is there any modification, electronics, or anything that has to be changed to make the trans work? will vtec pose anykind of problem(my lx coupe is non-vtec), will my non vtec ECU affect the trans in anyway, how about my speedometer, will it still read correctly?

as long as we are talking about a manual trans it will be a plug and play affair. no problems.

you should be able to put any manual trans into any civic (auto or manual). But if your swapping from a manual to an auto (i dont know why you would, but some people are dumb) then you would need an auto ecu.

other than that, all of the D17 trannies are interchangable (excluding the CVT tranny)

I have both an lx tranny and an ex tranny right now. They are exactly the same on the outside. The only difference is the gear ratio (which does not effect any electronics and requires no mods to drop in)

I have an 03 EX and bought an 01 LX tranny that I'm not going to put in my car. I have the bellhousing seperated so you could bolt it to your current LX housing. I'm in the same boat. I need an EX tranny and don't want to use this LX one.
