Broken Motor Mount?

I went in for a free oil change at a Honda Dealership (i find a tech workers phone in my car and drove back 15 miles to give it back ) Well they changed the oil in like 15 min and came back and said my front motor mount is broken. How can that be, are they trying to screw with me. I have an 04 with 45,000 miles on it, obviously you cant drive this thing very spritedly or rev the crap out of it from a stand still, so how could it be broken. They wanna charge $178 for parts and labor, obiously I will just have some one help me, or get a friends dad to help, but are they lying, is this even possible.

Of course it is possible. Cars are complex machines. Things break. You should be able to deterimine if the engine mount is broken by a visual inspection. However, this should be covered under warranty.

but I am out of warranty. My ex's dad is gonna check it out this Saturday. He has been a mechanic for imports for almost 20 years and said it was highly unlikely, but he is going to check to make sure, and if it is, i guess he will fix it

I figured I had a broken mount when I would park on an incline and feel the car shift hard into gear
