Possible Tranny/Clutch Problems
i drive a 2001 Civic Ex 5spd /w 92k miles...
heres the problem
during start up ( cold start or its already warm ) when i let off the clutch it makes kind of a slight grindin noise .. it doesnt it in 1st gear but while in 1st it doesnt do it from 2k-3k rpms but after that it dont do it ..
2nd gear to 4th gear it still does it but in a higher gear it is gettin quieter ...
5th gear it DOESNT DO IT AT ALL ....
i know about the problem of the reverse gear spacer being to thick and during right hand turns in 2nd gear it makes that clinking sound ... no i havent addressed that partly becuz Honda wants 750 bucks to fix it becuz my car has too many miles on it ... i bought the car in june of 05 with 79k miles and roughly 83k miles it began to make the clinking sound ... my friend has access to all data and i noticed the service bulletin ... so i contacted all 3 of the nearest Honda dealerships and they all refused the service ... if my car had less than 50k miles it could be fixed for free but i have 92k miles ( as of right now )...
so other than the clinking noise about the reverse spacer what could it be???
i talked to a guy that lives next door to my pal and he works at the honda dealership ( other than being a ***** ) he said it could possibly be my
1. Clutch not completely disengaging
2. pressure plate is messed up
3. the throw out bearing is burning up ( he said it could cause a tranny failure )
so anyone know of this ... im gonna take it to the mechanic i trust on friday for him to look at it ... this problem has been goin on for about 3-4 days now ..
