Transmission Trouble
Transmission Trouble
So farily recently my car has started to make a slight whining noise when i'm driving down the street. I know it's not alternator whine b/c i've had that before. The whine is pretty high pitched and it's most noticeable when my rpm's are around 2k and i'm not accelerating. I believe it has something to do with the transmission beause the sound completely disappears when I press the clutch - even just a slight tap will make it disappear. I've heard that this is often a symptom of a bad throw-out bearing, but I've also been reading on this site that it could be a problem with the input shaft. My question: is there a way to tell which it is w/o pulling out the trans and how much would it be to fix either? Thanks
BTW: '02 ex, manual (duh) 50K

Thats the synchros in the transmission whining. best thing i can think to tell you is to either check the transaxle fluid for any debris, odd color, or foul smell, if neither of the 3 exist, its just normal. I just bought a 05 ex 5 spd, and it does it. So its nothing more than likely.
