Stock radio problem...

I just put in some new door speakers in my wifes '01 EX and I disconnected the negative on the battery prior. Then, when I went to try out the new speakers, I turned the car on but the stereo wouldn't work. It said CODE, I believe. So I tried a bunch of different codes, and it stopped letting me after about 9 times or so. Now all it says is err03 or something.

Please help as I don't feel like replacing the stereo or taking it to the dealer to fix!

Thanks,
Brett

my friend my friend my friend, please search and you'll see this topic has been covered many times. first of all, double check in the paperwork u received when purchasing the car. salesman should have given u a card with the code on there. its either a 5 or 6 digit code obviously a set of numbers 1-6, it varies. if u dont find it, you have to go to the dealer and they will give u the code. first u can just try calling the dealer the civic was bought from and they may ask u for the vehicle VIN # for verification, they should give u the code after that. if not, they may ask u to come in with ur license, reg/insurance, and radio serial # before they disclose the code to you.

i was taught a trick that u can disconnect the battery +/- wires and hold them together for 10 secs or so and that will reset the radio so that it will allow u to try up to ten more times. otherwise u would have to let the car sit for about an hour idle, and that will reset the radio to give u another 10 tries. its in the manual. anyway call up ur dealership n they'll take care of u. they shouldn't charge u a penny.

its an anti-theft feature on the ex models. also if u don't want to take out the radio for the serial #, turn the car to either I or II position and turn the radio power on. Press buttons 1 & 6 at the same time and press the power button. It should show u the first 4 digits, then the last 4 digits of the serial #. double check in the manual to verify that. its in there. gl
