Trouble Starting

Ok well lately my car has had trouble starting. In the morning it starts up fine but after i drive it and leave it for 10 minutes and try starting it again sometimes it has trouble like it cranks and wants to start but it wont and then finally it will. Sometimes it takes a long time sometimes it starts right away. What could be causing this?

So you've got a turbo kit...

My first guess is a bad battery, Autozone will check this for free.

My second guess is a headgasket. Someitmes when a HG goes, it will not start once warmed up, the seal expands and can let the air/coolant/oil in. Before you start your car, check you oil. Look for a choclate milkshake looking stuff, or smell it to see if you can smell any gas in the oil. Then have someone else start your car, or next time you have trouble starting it, look for white smoke that has a sweet smell to it. Look for bubbles in the coolant reserve and open the radiator cap (before starting and when the car is cool) and look for bubbles in there. I would also HIGHLY reccomend getting a compression check VERY soon to see if all the cylinders are holding compression.

But a HG or battery is all I can think of.

I kinda have a feeling its the hg beginning because it doesn't over heat but its kinda the same thing that happened last time the headgasket messed up. I doubt the battery its fairly new and its an optima. Well i am taking the head of in a week so its all good i guess

If this has happened before, you may want to think about a radiator upgrade. Or perhaps running a cooler thermostat, you could and should also drill holes in your thermostat to prevent "hot spots" from forming. Not sure if you have done any of this, but it helped me with my turbo civic, after I blew 3 hg's.

This is my third one if it is blown. I want to upgrade the radiator just don't have the money. I am going to look for a colder thermostat. Its a 52mm right? I will go look to see if they have a 160 thermostat and then i will upgrade to a koyo radiator. I am not sure if its the hg because i checked the oil and its not the color of the water and oil mixing and it doesnt overheat but maybe it is we will see.
