Recently my friend bought a 00 civic si and it drives nice, pretty quick and starts on the first try. What is extremely weird is that the first time it starts up and then he will drive someone turn the car off leave it for 15 minutes and then the car will not start until the 5-6 tries. He just replaced the fuel filter and that had no effect what else could be wrong?

Well does it crank for a long time then start or it takes 5 or 6 times before it will start. If it has an extended cranking time, he may be losing fuel pressure either from a leaking injector or a leaky line or check valve. Now if it doesnt start for 5 or 6 tries, then you may have a fuel issue or ignition issue. What I suggest doing is during the times it doesnt start, check for fuel and spark. Your car needs fuel, spark and air to start. It also needs compression too. If the mixture is too lean or rich, it may not start. Its kind of a process of elimination.
