Unhappy Sunroof Smashed

I came out from my Muay Thai class last night and my sunroof is completely smashed/spidered. After looking at it closer it looks like it was broken from the inside, pushed up... The glass is still holding together, but totally broken. I know the car was locked and nobody was in it.

My question is where can I get a new sunroof if my Ins. doesn't cover it? Anywhere other than a Honda dealer who will prolly try to rape me? Thanks in advance...

well its a factory moonroof and honda will have to replace it, unless you buy the part and have another shop do it. Either way lots of $$.

I called my insurance and they do cover it, they have to call me back to tell me what my deductable is. I agree going to Honda would be the best idea. I figured out what happened, I remember hearing a rock hit my car yesterday on the highway (off an 18 wheeler most likely) but didn't think to check the sunroof, it was up in the tilted position. I went on the highway today with it closed and half the glass flew up and out so I came home and pulled out the rest and vaccumed it. Thanks for the info guys.

Hah.... the moonroof comes off with only 4 nuts. It's as easy as pie to replace. I take mine out every 6 months to properly clean and lube the mechanism. Have insurance pay for the part and pop it in yourself. It takes 5 minutes. Literally.

Btw, though it's not for sale, I bought a spare moonroof off ebay for $29!!! In the box, just in case.

Or look at the local junkyard. You need a philips screwdriver for the 2 trim pieces and a 10mm socket for the 4 moonroof nuts. 5min job.

There you go. That's what I'd do too. Those glass sunroofs cost sooo much money new.

Yeah, Honda's price for that is insane! It'll likely eat your deductible as well, since it's not a windshield. Ebay or the junkyard is the only way to go.
