Balancing Alloy Rims ??
Balancing Alloy Rims ??
Is there anyway to balance alloy rims besides static balancing them ? I can't get them dynamically balanced b/c no weights will stick to the outside of the rims ?
replaced the stock brigston re92 tires with better tires.
I can't get the over 60 mph shake to go away. Had em balanced a few times.
any tricks ?

when i got into the accident, my balance was way off. Took it to sams club and they TRIED to static balance it but failed miserably. I found that out when it was still shaking at 70mph and I took it to a real alignment shop. They said the other place didn't even do anything! Well whatever they did, I have alloys with no weights on the outside and they're balanced finally. No more shaking. No tricks, just take it to a place that specializes in alignment/wheels/balance. If they can't do it, they're not qualified. I went back and threw a fit at sam's. That and they forgot to put back one of my wheel lugs.

There is a different method of balancing an alloy wheel. It is actually called Alloy Balance. You can use either clip or tape weights on the inside of the wheel and you use tape weights in the center of the wheel. Most tire shops don't train their people to use these methods since static balance usually works.
on the hunters machine i use in shop 610 it has selectable modes- alloy 1 2 3 4 make sure it is in the right mode, but then again, if it comes out balanced then, well it is balanced...static is always a good back-up method

shoot that method is really undesirable seeing as how the dead spot on a rim isn't in the middle...that tries to compensate for what a proper match mount could do (god have mercy on you if you've ever had to do that) but i digress because I'm mentally retarded....
