well its official. my car needs 3 new sets of bearings. i think it was something like mainshaft, countershaft, and something carrier. dont remember exactly. shop says it will be a max of $1100. am i getting hosed?
A good way to find out is to get a few estimates around town. Also, its occasionally possible to bargain with shops if you have a written quote thats less than theirs. There are always shops tryin to scam you, gotta protect your wallet. Also, the cheapest may not necessarily do the best work.
this shop has always had the best prices in town, hands down. I think they quoted me the 1100 just so there would be no suprises, and they have been recommended by tons of people. Ill let you guys know how it turns out.
just remember to flush out your tranny every 30,000 from now on. i've got 75xxx on my 02 ex and im just about to change out the tranny fluid (4qts free from honda employee
) if my gears still stay too long in the gear , he's going to flush out the system. and if you got the sqeaky rear noise, the only way to fix it is to use metal bushings instead of rubber on the fork.
