It isn't you brake pads it is warped rotors. According to Honda this is caused by excessive heavy braking and when they said that I said it is caused by Honda's decision to use crappy brakes. They didn't disagree with me. Take your car in and have them resurface the rotors have them do that as often as possible before 20,000 miles so they will have to replace them before the warrenty is up otherwise just buy performance brakes

screw the dealership....go out buy cross-drill rotors so that the rotors don't over heat as quick. and get EBC or Project pads....if they are out yet...dealer used bullcrap rotors....when i get the money, i'm changing the whole braking system with 4 big disc brakes

ME TOO...

MY CAR HAS 14K AND THE BRAKES ARE SHAKING SINCE 12K. IT ONLY SHAKES WHEN BRAKING ABOVE 50 MPH. NO SQUEALING THOUGH, I CHECKED THE PADS AND THEY WERE ALRIGHT.

2k2civic is right Sounds like excessive heat may have warped the rotors. If you can't afford better performance rotors, have the stock pieces milled/ shaved level by a good brake shop, and replace the pads. The old pads will form to the contour of the warped rotor.

All I can tell you is that the brakes in my 02 EX Coupe are some of the worst I have ever seen in a new car. Let me tell you gents ...I've owned many a car. Honda better get their sh** together in the braking dept. I'm disappointed.

I dont know about the rotor resurfacing (except that it can only be done a certain number of kinds on each rotor before they have to be replaced altogether) but if it is helpful to anyone who changes their brakes themselves, you can go to Auto Zone and buy a lifetime brake deal - where you pay a flat fee, then you get free brakes for the life of your car - no matter how severe a driver you are. My previous car had warped rotors, and I simply continued to drive the car in that condition (until it just got too bad) and replaced the brakes pretty frequently. Anyway, it will save some money.

All you ***** are braking like you're filming Fast and the Furious....

My front rotors are warped at 30,000km (1mile == 1.6km). I had to get then machined, but it was done for free, under warranty.

I had my pads checked at my 32,000km service, and they said I had about 45% left. Most of those km's are doing downtown driving too......

Note: I've got 4 wheel disc, stock.

So, warped brakes, fine. But pads gone already? Give me a break..... I attirbute my warped brakes to me being an idiot and spraying them with water when I was at a car wash once.....

im not a mechanical person or anything.. but u having 4 wheel disc brakes.. means that ur front brakes dont get used as much, your braking power is more evenly distributed between your front and rear breaks .. us non EL ppl have only front disc brakes.. so our front brakes really do most of the work.. probably a good 70 percent of braking is done with the front brakes.. so really our break pads will wear out faster.. and especially if u have auto like me.. they will be cooked.. and fast.. im at 11,000 miles.. and i couldnt take the squeeling and loud graoning of my brakes.. not to mention having to push my brake pedal atleast halfway to get it to grab enuff to slow properly..

My 2K2 Civic Si coupe began it's shaking routine at about 25,000 km (15,432 miles) or 8-months of service. No, I'm not braking my like I'm in FATF2, but certainly after only 25k, I was deeply dissappointed with these brakes. None of my 2 previous Honda's had this issue till the 100k mark (62,000 miles).

As for the warranty, I really don't think that they will cover it under the warranty, because just like tires, these are components that wear off in time, and whose going to prove that I don't drive like Michael Schumacher? I'm going to give my dealership a call, along with Honda Customer service to determine if this is still covered under warranty. Otherwise, I'll be machining them myself when the steering wheel column shakes become unbarable.

So if I have 23,000 miles on my car, had it a year, and never had the brakes serviced I should put on some cross-drilled rotors with some new brake pads?? I was planning on it anyways, just want to make sure..because I am having a grinding sensation on my passenger side when I drive at low speeds...I am figuring it is the brakes going...some please reply!

Anitloop... which Toronto dealership are you servicing your car in. I believe have the same problem... with grinding of brakes and a pulsating sensation of brake pedal, all at crawling speeds. Windsor Honda dealer couldn't reproduce the problem, so I'm stuck with the current situation. I'm hoping that this master cylinder replacement is a solution to the problem. If so, I'm going to contact the service manager from your dealership and get my car service in TO next time I'm up (I was there this and last weekend).

I have fortunately not experienced the puddle issue with my '02 Si-G (5-speed) with about 33,000 km. But I'm very interested in having the TSB (PDF file?) or the number so that I can make them do some work for the bullsh*t brakes I have.
