brake pedal

Is it common for the 7thgen Civic to have the brake pedal past the gas pedal under normal braking situations? I slow down the car gently almost all the time, and when it's stopped, the brake pedal is slightly past the gas pedal. My friend with an 05 EX also complains about the brakes but it's not past the gas pedal.... yet. I have Hawk HPS pads ready whenever I have time to install. Would that help?

When is the last time you had the fluid blead or flushed? that would be my 1st guess.

brake fluid change every 3 years. If the pedal is going further down, the master cylinder is on its way out.

Ahem.... adjusting the rear drum brakes has a profound effect on pedal travel. Almost went through the windshield the first time.
