car not starting

For the past 2 days now my car is taking a while to start. its cold where i live so i usually go out and start it 10 min before i leave for work. I park in the garage. Anyways tosay i was driving for about an hour never turned it off and when i did it was off for 2 minutes, than when i tried to restart it took me 5 tries. I dont know whats going on. Since than its done it everytime i tried to start it. I has only 8100 km on it, its parctically brand new... also when i drive (its auto) it seems as though its not switching gears properly......Whats a normal revoulution p m??

I asked about this a while ago. It sounds like my problem, I turn the key once in a while and nothing happens. If I let out the clutch and then push it back all the way back in, it will start. Is that what you're talking about.

I find myself only with that problem if I don't mash down the clutch enough, and naturally I let off of it and push it down again (feels like further than before). If you've got an automatic, I dunno what else to say.

mine has never taken more than one try to start, but sometimes it will take like 5 seconds for the engine to turn over. the first time it did that i think i only had like 5k miles on it, and i was wondering why a new car didn't turn over instantly. come to think of it, that less-than-a-quarter-tank thing may have been it. i don't know if that was my case each time this has happened, but it very well could have been...i'm one of those people that fills my tank, let's it get down to like 1/8 a tank then fills it a again...is that bad for your car to let it get below 1/4 tank a lot? i'm just not one of those people that ALWAYS has to have a full tank...i get gas only when i need to. this was brought up befor. i asked the dealer on this topic. he said:

" the fuel tanks on these civics are pressurized. if you are running on 1/4 of a tank or less it can take up to five seconds for you tank to completly pressurize. this is normal if it wont start after 5 seconds or so, you may have a problem."

easy ways to prevent this problem:

keep more than 1/4 tank of gas in your car, especially during the winter

run a higher octane gas. it burns cleaner. this helps the engine turn over on the first try.

Glad to hear it. My 2000 accord ex-vl did it, and my 1 month old civic has done it once already.

My new 2002 EX 5 spd did this tonight for the first time to me but it had more than 3/4 of a tank of fuel. I was suprised to have this problem with only 200 miles on it. My '94 Accord would do it when extremely low on fuel but I couldn't figure out why my Civic did it with almost a full tank.

Has anyone had any luck resolving this probelm?

Thanks,

John

Mine does that if there is less than a 1/4 tank, and im on an incline. Its probably just the fuel pump not picking up enough fuel.
