i get the same problem! it has happened in snow and rain here in vancouver.. a grinding noise coming from the front right area of the car..

when the sound begins, i can accelerate and teh grinding noise gets louder, if i decelerate, the sound slows... i figure it has to do with the front right axle in some way.. anyone else with this problem or have a fix for it?

Not to be that guy- but if you search there was a thread about this from a while back that had about 300 responses to it, but I don't think anyone ever came to the conclusion of what it is. I know it happens with most 7th gen civics for some reason. Peolpe have taken then to the dealership and everything. Good luck!

i appreciate you helping dark but i already did a search and did it again after you mentioned it. i looked at all the posts and none of them are related to my problem. most of them are vibration during braking, in the rear deck, or vibration around 3000rpm. all these conditions are unrelated to my problem.

you said there were over 300 responses, so maybe that thread was deleted

Yeah there have been a thread on this one way back. I also was looking for it just now til I bumped into this one. Can't find it anymore.

Anyways, I recently had the problem again which I thought was long gone. Has anybody solved this grinding sound problem yet?

Ok, I've had this problem twice. once a major street while going through a puddle and once while on a small off street in going through a puddle of the right side. My car was totally stock when this happened, no removed resonator or anything. Anyhow, It doesn't happen often and only last for a couple of seconds, well 30 seconds maybe, and its as if, after going in the puddle, the water has somehow gotten inside an engine component because it sounds somewhat unhealthy when not pressing the pedal, but once you start accelerating its one of the worst sounds you'll ever hear coming from the car. Its a very lound grinding, like the water is being slushed around in an engine component. the harder you accelerate the louder it gets, and then, it goes away. and you don't hear it again. It's really strange, first time I heard it, I was scared to death, just waiting for my engine to explode. Well, thats about all I have to say about that

Dude that describes my problem exactly. When it's raining alot or going thru water puddles i hear that grinding noise like water in my engine or in some tube under my car or something and it "SOUNDS" like it's coming from the Ebrake area, but not sure... i told Honda about it a couple of times and they dont know what's going on.

WHAT THE HELL

I thought I was the only one with this problem. Why the hell doesn't Honda announce for a RECALL?? This is ridicious. I am afriad to take out my new 2001 vehicle out in the rain, because my 1992 Toyota winter beater is more reliable. Not only that, I've been getting small dash rattles from day 1, and have been increasing as more I drive this car. I've been driving Toyotas and Mazdas all my life, and I'm definitely not pleased with my first Honda. Especially considering Civic is the most reliable and basic model of them all.

What is going on? I know Honda has a record than this. I feel sorry for the guys at the dealership tomorrow, because I'm going to give them hell. I don't really give a damn if other customers are in the service bay. I would be furious these problems happened to ANY new car, even a Hyundai. But on a Honda? I am BEYOND pi$$ed. And this time I will not take "We couldn't find anything wrong" for an answer. Because I do a lot of highway travelling, my warrenty is probably going to be up within a year and they better find and fix all the problems.

No fu*king sh*t!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so jealous at my brother's Celica... he abuses the sh*t out of it and it's so rock solid. I'm jealous of my dad's Previa Van, he takes that thing to hell and back for work, and it's ROCK SOLID....... and my winter beater Corolla... if it weren't for the dead A/C right now, it's be a sweet ride.

What the hell is the matter with my car.......................
