disconnecting srs

What is the best way to disconnect the srs system. I do not want the airbags so should I just unplug them at the bags or unplug everything at the srs computer. When I unplug them do I need to disconnect the battery.

First off, what are you doing?

Second, you need to disconnect the battery and wait about 3-10 min. Why you ask? Because when you disconnect the battery, you SRS system has a backup battery which is still active, and buy waiting 3-10 min, the backup battery will be deactivated. That way you can go ahead and disconnect SRS connecters without problem.

I just do not want them they will still be in the car incase I sell it then I will need to reconnect them so the next owner will have them. But as for me I do not want them to go off on me if I am in a wreck. I have had bags that have gone off before and they did more damage to me then if they wouldnt have gone off at all. so i just want to dissable them so they dont go off on me but still be able to reconnect them if i ever sell my car.

civics have dual stage air bags...

if it's not a high speed collision, they wont deploy at full speed..

i've been hit by the airbag before...i'd say getting slapped by a girl hurts more...:P

No offense but that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Would you rather have a air bag hit hit your face or would you rather smash your face in the windshield. Air bags save lives everyday. you never know when you could get into an accident.

if you want to disable the srs easily, just unplug one of the seat sensors then reinsert the plug.

the SRS light will come on and the air bags will never deploy because the system thinks there's an error with the system
