Make sure your AC is on (and working properly) when trying to get rid of heavy fogging.

Read your manual. It tells you when & how to use the different settings.

Make sure that your air recycle button is off so that your using fresh air to defrost, that might solve your problem

I only noticed the fog problem when jumpin in a cold car and drivin down the road right out of the garage. Letting the car warm up with the defrost on (especially in the colder parts of the world) prevents a lot of that fog build up in the car.

The Mrs. had the same problem until she let the car warm up for about 10 mins. She learned the hard way.

Just some info.

I believe theres something in the manual about mixing 1/10th vinegar with 9/10ths water and wipe the insides of the windows. That might help a bit

Anyone know how to diagnose a heater core problem?

My de-fogger doesnt work very well, and I'm suspecting
that's why. But I'd like to be able to verify the heater
core myself, before asking the Honda guy to check it
because I dont trust them.

do you smell antifreeze? turn the heater on FULL and sniff... if the core has a hole then moisture will join the air and de-fogging just wont work...

Mine fogs like mad too in the morning... but a quick drive around the block with the defogger on pretty much takes care of it.

there was a thread posted a while back that has to do with this prob... it explained that our civic's (as well as many new car's) interior cloth is treated with a certain chemical that lets off a vapor that sticks to the windows and creates a mist effect. i guess its supposed to get worse in the summer time- the heat makes the chemical evaporate more. there was no cure for this, except for time (as far as i know). maybe this is what your prob is.
