some rattle when I press on the brake while stopped
Im beginning to hear some weird rattle when im at a stop and the brakes pressed. Anybody have an idea what this might be? I can only hear it in the car and cant hear it when I stick my head into the engine bay. Its so faint that wind noise, music, people talking will over power the sound but its obviously there when quite. Anybody? Also my engine ticks like an out of control bomb.

tick is normal valve noise, you should hear jettas they're much worse. Rattle can be anything. Exhaust pipes against car or sway bar, any kind of aftermarket intake or strut bar banging a pipe or hose, could be anything.

I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX, 163,000 miles. Automatic Transmission. Today the car has developed a “rattling” noise. When in “D” and stopped you can hear the noise. It sounds like it is coming from the middle or right side of the engine. When accelerated the sound goes away. It is also “jerking” between 1st and 2nd gear. There is no rhythm to the rattling sound, its all random. Could the sound and the jerking be related?
