Insurance Company problems. Need help
Well if you read the members ride part of the forum you would know I was in an accident two weeks ago where the engine would not start. I told my insurance company every single thing on my car that had problems. My entire last week comprised of me trying to get in contact with my claims handler. After getting the run around for a week, on Friday my dad called them and had someone else deal with it. The person my dad talked to had very little on what happened with the accident, hell they barely knew I was in an accident. They tell him that they would hire an outside company to look at the car and give an estimate. They also wouldnt allow for the shop to take a look at the car before the person came to assess any engine damage. Well today I find out that they sent the person on Friday and today I get the estimate. While I'm looking at it and I notice that they didnt even try to start the engine. If they had, they would have noticed the engine doesnt turn over and the interior lights dont go on except the mileage. He also didnt bother to check the other headlight that was still partially on because underneath it is all cracked. You would think he would look at it since the front bumper is being held on by one bolt. They also decided that my rear bumper had prior damage done to it. It did have prior damage to my accident, but the way it looks that it either got hit by a car or hit the curb or something else. And to burst my bubble even more, the adjuster decided they would use junkyard parts for most of the damage. I find this highly unacceptable because they are supposed to buy all new parts. For the ****in price i pay for insurance in NJ thats the least they can do. Can anyone help me out on this? I think they're gonna try to **** me out of the rear bumper n try to make me pay the duductable on that. And if they say anything from the police report, I'll just gladly say that the officer didnt even look at the cars, didnt see the EXACT scene of the accident, and that he didn't take anyones statement but mine.

hey bro, i think you can fight them on the junkyard parts thing. I belive its your right to get new oem parts. And in your manual i think it said to only use Honda new oem parts for your car to run safely. Good luck man.
About the use of non-new parts... Since the car is more than 2 years old, the insurance company will opt for using LKQ (like-kind-quality) parts, not OEM. Your repair shop could care less what parts are used, they are at the mercy of your insurance. If the appraiser cut you a check for the damages then you would have a say in what quality parts are used, or you could always talk to someone at your insurance about your concerns using LKQ parts (fit, tolerances, etc.)
Good luck
