Car kinda struggles in 2nd

Well... I have a 04 Civic Si. The only engine mod I have done to it is a short ram air intake. Recently.. when I shift into second (when racing) the car kinda struggles to go, i can feel the car kinda bob a little then it will throw be back and just launch.. kinda like it has trouble grabbing or something.. I can hear it in the engine and I see it on the tach.. it will bob a little then it will launch.. there is a big power loss to when it happens.. I've had the air intake on basically right after I got the car so.. this just started happening.. any suggestions?

i have just about 14,700 miles on the car

Not to be a ****, but it sounds like you can't shift from 1st to 2nd for ****. I got an 04 ex. When I first started racing around, I would shift real hard and fast from 1st to 2nd, and when I popped the clutch back out it would chirp the tires pretty bad almost as if I was launching from 1st. You need to shift smoother in the transition, and let the clutch out fast, but smooth. It you pop it quick your gonna get that every time.

If the car is boging going in to 2nd it ushually means that you are letting the RPM's drop too much in your 1st to 2nd shift... making the car drop out of its power band. so your either shifting too slowly, or your shifting out of 1st too soon.

So.... at what RPM are you shifting from 1st to 2nd and what RPM is the car at when you get it in to 2nd?

I try to shift before 6500.. now the thing is.. im not talking about bobbing after i shift... the car STRUGGLES when it hits like 4500-5200.. its like it loses power.. then just launches.. i dont get it..

It doesnt do it anymore since i took the air intake off and i went back to stock so..

the car struggles with the aftermarket intake because air isn't moving into the engine fast enough.
