steering wheel shakes over bumps,etc.
hi, my 2001 coupe right front tire glazed over a curb few months ago with only slight damage to the rim, that was 2 months ago,not sure its the cause or not, now the steering wheel will shake only the tires are going over bumps and pot holes (small ones), does fine on smooth road, thanks for any input.
The steering knuckle and the balljoint may have been damaged from your previous impact. Jack up the car with the damaged wheel off the ground. Hold the wheel at the 3 and 9 o'clock position and twist forward and backward to see if there is any play in the suspension. It sould be tight. If there is play then you need to replace balljoint and/or steering knuckle.

ok,thanks, the steering knuckle is a heavy piece of steel but the balljoint at the bottom which connected to the A frame may be damage? ok, i already check the balljoint at the end of the tire rod and its tight but the grease fitting rubber cap had been torn for some months,i looked everywhere except the dealer for the upper ball joint without any luck, i will check again thoroughly again tomm.thanks.
ok, i could not get a accurate feel of any wobble from the wheel bcz the steering wheel can not locked in place as older cars, however, i didnt hear any unusual noise when i shaked the wheel,oh well,i will greased up the upper ball joint with a grease gun this time,i used my finger to apply some this morning but i dont think the grease could reach the ball though.patient is the key cus my wallet is not fat.thanks
