How many miles are on your clutch???
Just wondering how many miles I can expect to get out of my stock clutch. I drive a little more agtressive than the average person and I know that has alot to do with life of a part, what Im wanting to know is are these factory clutches made for the long haul, or just something cheap that may last only 75000 miles? I know it will very alot depending on terrain traffic and a ton of other veriables but are the stock clutches dependable? How many miles are on your clutch? 40000 on mine so far and no slippage, but it just seems like a real weak set up.
You still have a long way to go with your clutch. Factory clutch can last a long time if you use it properly. My Civic has an auto transmission but I also have a Prelude with a manual transmission. It used to be a daily driven car. I drove that car aggressively & even took it a local road racing circuit from time to time. I bought my Prelude brand new back in 1997 & when the car reach about 110,000 miles which was about early last year, that's when the clutch needed to be replace.
I think ElCamino understands the tradeoff between agressive clutch usage and longevity. I think he is trying to a sense of the average mileage expected out of the clutch based on everyone's reponse. Correct me if I'm wrong ElCamino.
Back to the subject. I have 60K miles on my clutch. I drive normally. With a occasional (very occasional) agressive driving. There is no slippage at this time. I should be able to get 130K miles out of it.
My friend who has a Subaru Outback wagon is still going strong with 180K miles on his clutch. But he shifts very conservatively (2K - 3K rpm). On the opposite side of the spectrum, I got only 60K miles out of my clutch in my old 84' Prelude. I was younger then and drove quite aggresive.

EX4Dr is correct, Im just trying to get a ball park on how every one elses clutch is doing. And for "MishBallzEM2" If I had the attitude of saying its a Honda dont worry about it, then my car would have tons of stuff wrong with it right now. If everyone else on this forum knew how many problems and the trouble I had to go through to get things repaired under warranty I think it would change the minds of alot of others. Im not saying Hondas in genral are bad cars, Im just stating that my car is NOT reliable and has had thousands of dollars worth of parts thrown at it under warranty. So if I had the attitude of not worrying about it because its a Honda, I would be driving my El Camino that gets 4 miles to the gallon to work every day, its a nice Saturday night car, but driving a car with 28" tall slicks to work is not fun. So by asking the question about the Clutch in the civic, Im trying to get an Idea of when I may expect to be replacing it. From what I have heard from others I may not have the car long enough to have to replace it, when it turns 80k its going up for sale. Thanks for the replies, keep them comming!!!!
Subarus FTW I do NOT miss my civic

90,000 Miles, running pretty nice. Me and 3 of my friends learned on it, and I drive sort of hard a lot. I could get another 15,000 out of it I believe, but it will be replaced when I get a turbo next week. I may use the stock clutch for a week and burn it the F up, but we'll see.
i got 60,000 miles and cluthc isnt slipping or any softer and i drive hard, but yesteray my slave cylinder broker off tranny and changed it and the master cylinder but i think that the clutchfork or throw out bearing is gone aswell, i need some advice guys if you can give me some, i have a act stage 2 clutch from my d16 that was only used for 6 months do you think i should use that one or get a brand new exedy clutch ? i heard that the d16 and d17 use the same clutch but they dont use the same flywheel do they ? and does ahyone know the weight of stock flywheel ?
