Maintenance Light *Blinks*?
Maintenance Light *Blinks*?
I searched long and hard and didn't find any threads already covering this, so I am going to ask. If it's already been covered, I apologize.
I found lots of threads on turning the "maint req'd" light OFF, but that isn't my question.
When I start my car, my "maint req'd" light blinks a bunch of times and then turns off. I'm not too worried since it does actually give up and turn off, but it never used to do this before and I wonder what could be causing it?
Thoughts?

But why, what does that mean? I don't like this vague idea of "maintenance" because that usually means taking it someplace and saying "here, do some maintenance". Then they charge you a thousand dollars and replace both of your doors or something stupid like that.

how many miles do youo have. every 8,000 it will go come on and at 33,000 it will some on. it is just a reminder to get your oil changed. look in your owners manual it shows what is needed at each interval of milage

Since you're new, I'm not deleting this post.
Think of the light as a reminder. It has absolutely nothing to do with the condition of your car. It just comes on at certain mileage intervals. The stupid ones rush to the dealer and get the $500 service pack which includes an oil change and inspection. Most of us here do that stuff ourselves.
The light flashes and goes off at first, but after a while it will just stay on. Again, so those that don't know will take it. Mine just started blinking last night, so I turned it off again.
Hold down the trip meter button, turn the car to on, wait until the light stops blinking, start the car, and let go of the button. Light is reset.
