Help!!!! Alternator??? What do I do???
I'm driving from Missouri back home to Indiana today and my CEL light comes on. 215 miles later my battery light comes on and my speedometer quits working. When I got up to 5000 rpms it was like a had a rev limiter and my car felt like it was going to die. I pulled of the highway and parked at a hotel. I couldn't find any lose wires or connections. My belt is fine. I've just hit 30K miles on my car. I'm hoping my alternator didn't crap out on me. So now my car is still in Illinois and I'm back in Indiana. My car is 150 miles away from home right now. What should I do? It will cost at least $100 to get AAA to tow it. I could tow it back with one of those Uhaul things $???. I could put a new battery in it and see how far I can get.
Somebody on here said there speed senor blew and it blew the alternator fuse. Could that be my problem?

Could be.
Put a fresh optima battery in it and drive it home. It'll make it if you don't turn anything else on. THEN check everything out. If the speed sensor fuse is blown, and it blows again when you replace it, the sensor is probably bad. This did happen to one of the guys here.

So I checked the alternator fuse and it was blown. I replaced the fuse and it blew after 50 miles of driving. I put another one in and it blew right after I started driving. It was a fun trip though, night time, no alternator, no speedometer, no cruse control, battery dying, but it didn't add any mileage to my car =) Do you guys think the speed sensor needs replaced or have any other ideas what it might be? Would it be covered under warranty?

Sometimes it seems this car was so under-engineered that they will blame a pine tree air freshener hanging off the mirror for engine/trans problems. I have the extended warranty (now I wish I never bought it ) and I have to be scared to WASH the damn car for fear they'll blame soap on some problem.
Damn, I miss my 80's accord. None of this BS.
When I do sell my 7th gen, I'm getting an old CRX.

Agreed ! I have a 91' Accord with 290,000km and my 2001 civic is having more probs than it... On top of that Honda service sucks... Seems the newer Hondas are being built like crap...
So I called the dealer and they said it was fixed and covered under warranty. I went to pick my car up and they gave me a bill for $173. I put an aftermarket downpipe on the car and it moved the sensor wires and they rubbed through and shorted on the subframe. $173 for them to wrap some electrical tape around the wires. If I only knew!!!!!
