2002 Civic Guage Problems, Please help!
Hey guys, this is my first post here but I've started having an eletrical problem I think and need some help.
I have a 2002 Civic EX. It's an auto, no mods yet. I was driving the other day and rev'ed the engine up and steped on it to pass a car and looked down, and the odometer was at all zero's, the gas guage was almost empty and started going to the full mark, and the spedometer stopped working. I figured eh........shut the car off and turn back on. So I did so and things kept working ok until today. The same thing happened today. Tachometer is ok, but gas guage went up and spedometer stayed at zero and odometer and trip wern't responding. I knew it was a problem then.
I am trying to think what could cause this. It just seems to effect the gas and spedometer guages with acting funny and especially the odometer. I dunno what it is but need some help. The car has 46,000 miles on it so I don't think it is under any sort of honda warrenty.
Please let me know with any idea's on this one guys.
Thanks,
Chris

Maybe the battery is going bad, which is causing the computer to reset, but that's rare when the car is already on. Almost sounds like a cluster problem. I don't know if you can just fix it. There are gauge diagnostics that will make all needles do a full sweep. Try searching for the post here.

Here is the info for gauge diagnostics:

Did you mod your cluster? Maybe the needles are sticking.
Try this:
1. Push and hold the trip/reset button.
2. Turn the lighting switch on.
3. Turn the ignition switch on.
4. Within 5 seconds, turn the lighting switch OFF, then ON and OFF again.
5. Within 5 seconds, release the trip/reset button, then push and release the button 4 times repeatedly.
This starts the Gauge cluster self diagnostics.
The beeper will sound, the lights will flash, the LCD will flash, and most importantly, the needles will sweep all the way back and forth. If they/one does NOT sweep properly, replace the cluster.
To exit diagnostics, turn off the ignition.
Hope this helps. If you don't get it the first time, try again. Timing is important here.
