issue w/ my exhaust sound!!

i really don't know if this is the right forum but here it goes anyway. when i first bought my car about a year ago i put a carbonfiber ractive muffler on my civic well it sounded jus like my stock muffler so last week i went to the local performance shop (AMS) here in lafayette an got an apexi ws catback put on i was finally thinking hey my car is gonna sound nice now but guess what it still sounds stock except for a little grunt when i floor it. my car is a 2003 civic hx my car has two cats the header like the lx/dx and one on my exhaust like the ex. so does anyone think it has to do w/ the two cats that i'm not getting that nice deep sound i'm looking for?? also if it is the two cats would i solve this problem by putting on a aftermarket header so i won't have that stock header/cat eatting up my performance and sound. i'm jus lost in the woods on this issue so if i could get some help i would love it.

take the second cat out. Are you crazy? Or put on a header and get rid of the stock one.

Its an HX. I dont think they have a header for it. If it has two cats, there is no way it has the same header as a DX/LX. Maybe it does though. I have never seen the pics of the HX exhaust system, or the engine for that matter.

the header/cat is a dx/lx on my car. if i want to buy performance parts for my hx i have to buy ex exhaust and intake and dx/lx header and if i want to buy a turbo i have to get one made for a dx/lx. it took a while for me to understand everything about the hx engine but i think i got it down pat. the engine in the hx is the same as the ex but with a dx/lx header. i did alot of research on my engine the hx has vtec-e and the ex has vtec. the only difference is that honda took of the ex header off and slaped on a dx/lx header/cat and called it the vtec-e. b/c of the two cats it puts out lower emissions and gets better gas milage. thats why i think if i put on a after market header i can get the same horsepower as the ex if not a lil bit more and free up all that restricted air flow so i can get that deep sound i'm looking for. i jus wanna make sure i'm right...before i go get it done. so a lil more help would be appreciated

My stock ex exhaust is very bassy sounding after just a top-portion header. Most likely the exhaust will become louder with header.
