problems with subs
ok guys ive got an 03 ex sedan, with 2 12 inch infinity reference subs and a 350 watt Jl audio amp, and im using the stock cd player. and when its turned all most all the way up like one notch away from being as loud as it can be the subs cuts out and alternate between the stock speakers and the subs. and its only when its turned up somewhat loud. now i dont know if i should have posted this under i.c.e or in this forum. but i need some feed back guys on what the problem may be. perhaps lose wires or do you think my subs may be messin up. BTW ive had the subs since october and the amp since the 9th of june my 1st amp fried out. but i need some help. thanks alot guys

well, i'm no expert in subs or anything like that. but, i dont think you're clipping out your amp. thats when you put too much power to ur amp and it sorta overheats it so it shuts off as a safety. i think you dont have enough power going to your amp so it turns off. how are you running the RCA cables and stuff. does the subs go back on only when you turn it down (the volume) or does it come back on itself?

well it alternates between the subs n the stock rear speakers. ill be goin along thumpin havin a good time then bam its stock again. so yeah it works fine when its on a certain volume and i have no idea how its set up i had audioworks do it for me but ill have my friends who know **** look at it lol thanks man
check ur connections.. make sure ur ground wire is hooked up properly and that ur speaker wires inside the box and going from ur amp to ur subs are connected properly.. check all wires before u get the actual hardware checked.. good luck
oh and since u are using the stock deck, make sure ur line converter? or whatever that thing is called that takes ur speaker level signals from the speakers is functioning properly/connected properly..
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

yeah, that definatley sounds like an overheating problem. Then again I have a 500/1 and I have yet to get it to warm up even after 4 straight hours of loud music. I can put my hand on the heatsink even on the hottest days and its always about 2-3 degrees warmer than the inside of the car. But my JL amp has never gotten warm yet.
Also keep in mind mine has very little room to breathe cause its pushed up between the box and the seat.
So go to the local Jl dealer and have them look at the amp, that is probably the proble. And if you can afford a JL amp and 2 infinity subs then buy a new deck. You can even get a nice MP3 alpine for under $300.
