BURNing Smell

okay well yesterday i noticed this burning smell, didnt think much of it until it began following me around, everywhere i drove. so i checked under the car and noticed a plastic grocery bag stuck on my exhaust pipe(not the muffler). damn it!!! the thing is melting away and i cant figure out how to get it off, its stuck on really good. anyone have any suggestions how to get this thing off or should i just leave it on, and let it melt away.

thanks
Dom

I have the same problem. It is really hard to scrape off, and I tried. Stinks, doesn't it?

Try to get as much as you can off. The rest will eventually burn off by itself.

I thought my car was on fire when I first noticed it..... anyway, the more you drive, the faster it will burn away. It won't hurt anything on the car, but keep a window open. It's toxic to you.

Is this a common thing to happen on the 7th Gen? I noticed alot of people have the same problem with grocery bags stuck beneath the car. I usually avoid any objects on the road.

ahahah That happened to me before, i had just cleared my headlights so i thought it was the headlights melting the sealant or something but i put my car up on a edge of sidewalk and took the damn plastic bag under it. it had been melting for weeks. never did scrape it off .. it just burnt till it was gone.

I could never get the whole thing off my exhaust pipe. I scraped as much as I could with a putty knife, and the rest eventually burned away.
Stank like hell for weeks.

I found the cause of the burning smell on mine. It was some sort of plastic that had melted beyond recognition. I just let the car sit all day and then got under it in the evening when it had cooled down. I took a putty knife to it and nearly all of it chipped away really easily.
