Will Extended Warranty Cover This?????
Hey everyone, for the past two months my check engine light has been going on and off. I wasn't in a hurry to take it in though because the error code was P147, evaporation leak. It isn't the gas cap by the way. I took it to honda the other day to get the exact problem. My factory warranty had just expired 100 miles earlier too so now I am on the extended warranty that I got from Honda when I bought the car. By the way, apparantly this extended warranty isn't given by honda. Rather some 3rd party company. But anyways, the problem that Honda found had to do with an evaporation leak at the canister so whatever that consists of, it has to be replaced. Does anyone know if this is convered by my extended warranty? I told the guy that the service desk that I see why there is no reason why this should be covered under my extended warrnty since I paid so much extra money, but he said that you'd be surprised. Thanks for your help.

Depends.... but due to the environmental laws, the EMMISION related components which include the charcoal canister, are supposed to be covered.
The charcoal canister accumulates fuel vapors from the gastank while the car is not running. When you drive, the engine sucks those fumes back out and burns them. It's no big deal. It's designed to keep gasoline vapors from getting into the air.

It depends on your warranty. I have the extended warranty ( 7 years 100kmiles ) given by honda, and recenty i had front wheel bearing problems, and the dealer fixed it with the extended warranty. But first they had to get approval from the warranty department. So you must have the list of things that is covered by the warranty you have, the dealer probably gave it to you when you bought your car. Or, you can call your warranty company and ask if the canister is covered.
